True Story: How Robots Secured a Marriage Proposal

True Story: How Robots Secured a Marriage Proposal

It’s our anniversary tomorrow. Fourteen years ago we said yes to marriage and all of the highs and lows that come with it. And, it’s been smashing!

Zac and I founded White Lake Press in 2021, but in 2011, we became engaged because of a children’s book.

Okay, maybe that’s a little misleading, but there was a children’s book involved– a book about robots! 🤖

To propose marriage to me, Zac handed me a note pad with hand drawn illustrations and a riveting story about a super cool man robot who met an awesome lady robot, proposed to her, and lived happily ever after.

Snapshot of Zac’s original illustration.

He knows me so well.

Obviously, it worked like a charm, and fourteen years later, here we are, working together to publish exceptional children’s books written by real, ordinary people, like you and me.

We can’t wait for you to read our next publication, Paislee and the Balloon. Written by David Scott, this stunning tale is a visual delight that teaches important lessons about fairness, contentment, and internal validation.

It will be available in e-book on Friday, June 13, 2025. We hope you’ll check it out!

Warm Regards,

Miriam Monette
